Maprik, New Guinea. May 1945. Japanese prisoners who surrendered at Kubriwat to a platoon of the 2/5th infantry battalion, under Lieutenant (Lt) C. H. Miles (third from right), before being flown to Aitape. The forty two Japanese in the party who surrendered to Lt Miles included Lt Col Tagenaka, one captain, three lieutenants and 37 other ranks.
