Description

British Household Cavalry Officer dress sword and scabbard. The hilt has a nickel plated steel guard with a crown over HC cypher, stud decorations and checkered pommel in gild brass. The grip is wood covered with fishskin and bound with german silver wire. Attached to the guard is a white buff leather inner pad and a brown leather sword knot. The straight blade is etched for three fifths of the length of the single fuller with a floral design incorporating the GVR Royal cypher on the right and the Household Cavalry cypher along with the regimental battle honours on the left. The ricasso has the Royal Coat of Arms with By Appointment WILKINSON SWORD Co Ltd LONDON and the back edge has MADE IN ENGLAND 61365. The nickel plated steel scabbard has a single loose hanger ring on a gilt brass band 2.5 inches from the throat and a thin drag shoe at the chape. There is a small dent to the scabbard ten inches from the end.
