Funeral of Private V R Grice 6 RAR
Description
Another Brisbane National Service hero of the battle of Baria [Long Tan] in South Vietnam was buried with full military honours. The flag draped casket of Private V R Grice Sixth Battalion [The Royal Australian Regiment (RAR)] was mounted on a gun carriage outside St Patricks Roman Catholic Church Fortitude Valley Brisbane. The Northern Command drum major gave the order and the funeral procession moved slowly to the Pinnaroo Lawn Resting Place at Aspley. As the casket was lowered the 8 RAR Guard of Honour fired a triple volley and one more of Queensland's eight dead from the heroic battle was laid to rest. (Transcribed from the dope sheet)
