MUSCHU ISLAND, NEW GUINEA, 1945-11-26. ELEVEN HUNDRED JAPANESE TROOPS OF 18 JAPANESE ARMY LEFT THE WEWAK AREA ON THE JAPANESE CRUISER KASHIMA TO RETURN TO JAPAN. THEY ARE THE FIRST JAPANESE TROOPS TO LEAVE THE SOUTH WEST PACIFIC AREA. SHOWN, BRIG M.J. MOTEN, ADMINISTERING COMMAND OF 6 AUSTRALIAN DIVISION, MAKING AN INSPECTION OF THE FIRE CONTROL TOWER. BRIG MOTEN INSPECTED THE SHIP BEFORE SHE LEFT FOR JAPAN.
