Description
A cleared roadside between Xa Bang and Nui Dat. One of 477 colour 35mm transparencies taken or collected by 2784336 Signalman (Sig) Stuart Lindsay Weller, 104 Signal Squadron, relating to his service in Vietnam between 1967 and 1968. Sig Weller notes: "The clearing of the trees on both sides of the road was done by our engineers to provide a secure distance between the rubber trees and the roadway, so it would be just that little more difficult for the Viet Cong to launch an ambush. It’s difficult to launch an ambush on a convoy if you’re on the edge of the tree line a hundred metres away!"
