Studio portrait of 5316 Private (Pte) Francis George Clark, 20th Battalion, of Colinton, NSW (right) and an unknown Australian serviceman. A plumber prior to enlistment on 16 February 1916, Pte (later Sergeant) Clark was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal (DCM) and Military Medal (MM) during his service in the First World War. He enlisted in the Second World War with the service number NX17124 and served with the 2/17th Battalion. Sergeant Francis George Clark DCM MM was killed in action at Tobruk on 7 June 1941, aged 49 and is buried at Tobruk War Cemetery. See also P12399.003.
