Firing lanyard for Model 1916 Grenade Launcher (Granatenwerfer 16)
Description
Twine firing lanyard approximetely 5010 mm in length and 3-4mm thick. Attached to one end is a steel clip and swivel ring approximately 100 mm. At the other end is a wooden toggle made of turned wood with steel protective ring at the leading end of bobbin, which is approximately 130 mm wide x 30 mm diameter.
History / Summary
Model 1916 grenade launcher (Granatenwerfer) issued to German light mortar units during the First World War. This grenade launcher was captured during the Somme offensive by the 13th Battalion at Morcourt on 8 August 1918.
