Biplane relating to Lieutenant (Lt) Rodney Vernon Franklin, 16th Squadron, Royal Flying Corps. Lt Franklin enlisted in the 10th Battalion and served at Gallipoli before joining the Royal Lancaster Regiment of the Royal Flying Corps in November 1915. Lt Franklin was killed in a flying accident in Egypt on 24 June 1917.
