Collection of 16 images relating to 413396 Pilot Officer (PO) Arthur Long. Includes multiple portraits of PO Long, a group portrait of five men who are possibly the crew of his Lancaster, photographs of PO Long and Esme Mooney. Additional names recorded on the back of an images are John Rees and Les ?Jeffrey?.

Arthur Long, born in Kendall, NSW but living and working as a teacher in Taree, enlisted on 17 August 1941, aged 21 years and was assigned service number 413396. Soon after enlisting, on 6 September, he married Esma Joan Mooney. After receiving basic training, he embarked for the UK in August 1942, where he received specialist training and converted to Lancasters. He was then posted to 467 Squadron on 19 August 1943. On 23 September 1943, his Lancaster MK III with serial EE135, and call sign PO-Y, was shot down by a German night fighter near Mannheim. There were no survivors.
