Studio portrait of 24377 Supply Assistant Francis Joseph (Frank) Mitchell, HMAS Sydney. A mail sorter from Middle Park, Victoria, Mitchell enlisted on 27 May 1940. He was killed in action on 20 November 1941, aged 22 , when the ship on which he was serving, HMAS Sydney II, was sunk in the Indian Ocean by the German auxiliary cruiser Kormoran.
