Description
Depicts a boat person, vessel is implied by a horizontal line and the pole held in the same way they are used to move canal boats. Inscriptions refers to sketch on opposite page, see ART90377.028.
Frederick enlisted 5 January 1918 in Sydney, New South Wales. He was posted to the Field companies Engineers, 1st Draft Reinforcements, as a surveyor and draftsman. Bolton embarked from Sydney to London on HMAT "Runic" on 22 March 1918 and arrived London 24 May 1918. This sketchbook documents his brief service of four months.
