Suc manh tat thang [The strength of Victory]
Description
This North Vietnamese poster presents a strong, imposing Vietnamese family who are willing to fight to defend their culture. Propaganda posters encouraged children to work hard. Here, though the children lean against their parents, they are depicted as presenting a unified front against the enemy. With striking facial features, the work is clearly reflective of a Soviet-influenced Social Realist style.
This poster shows some evidence that it may have been produced after the conclusion of the Vietnam War for the tourist market. As such it represents the broader social and economic movement in contemporary Vietnam of the commodification of propaganda imagery and war 'souvenirs' for a commercial and tourist market.
