Description
Collection consists of a 12 page manuscript titled "A short history of 53rd Battalion A.I.F. ("Whale Oil Guards")" written by Lance Sergeant Ronald Crank, DCM. Crank served with the 53rd Battalion during the First World War, and was later active in establishing the 53rd Battalion Association. Written during the Second World War, this manuscript mentions the members of the 53rd Battalion who were again serving with Australian Forces in all theatres of war as well as on the home front.
