Description
Units of the Australian Army Medical Corps aboard RMS Mooltan upon departure from Melbourne. This photograph was owned by 184 Private Sydney Martin Lord, who embarked with the 1st Australian General Hospital on this ship. He served with this unit in Egypt until he was transferred to the 2nd Field Ambulance and sent to France in March 1916. He was transferred to the 1st Division Signals Company in February 1918, and then back to the 2nd Field Ambulance in November. He returned to Australia in August 1919. A handwritten note on the back of the photograph reads, 'Mr Pynor took this snap. I think it is very good'.
