Collection relating to the Second World War service of N232516 Sapper Francis Herbert ‘Frank’ Amaral, Australian Army Transportation Corps, Second Australian Imperial Force, New Guinea, 1943-1945.
Wallet 1 of 1 – Consists of five illustrated envelopes and one letter from Sapper Francis Herbert ‘Frank’ Amaral to his wife, Mrs Marjorie Brenda Amaral (née Thornton). The envelopes were illustrated with ink line drawings of landscapes and characters, and sent by Sapper Amaral between 1943 and 1944. The letter, dated 14 January 1945, was sent by Sapper Amaral to Mrs Amaral while he was serving in New Guinea. In this letter, Sapper Amaral writes of his love for Mrs Amaral and his hopes to see her again in the near future.
