Description
On entering the Green Zone in Baghdad one of the first sites is that of the former Ba'ath Party headquarters which was hit by US Tomahawk missiles. That the building itself is still standing demonstrates that the Iraqis sometimes over-engineered some of their infrastructure against attack. One of a series of photographs taken in the Middle East Area of Operations (MEAO) by Mal Booth, Head of the Australian War Memorial's Research Centre, as part of the Memorial's Curators in the Field program. This program continues the Memorial's tradition of documenting Australia's experience of war, through observing the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and collecting records, photographs, oral histories and objects for the Memorial's National Collection.
