Description

Group portrait of unidentified members of the 2nd Reinforcements, 35th Battalion, 9th Brigade. A hand coloured unit flag is laid in front of the group (coloured with brown and blue instead of brown and green). The men are probably those listed in the embarkation roll for this group, exact positions unknown, which embarked aboard the HMAT Port Sydney on 4 September 1916. The seated officers in the row third from the front may include Fred Ditzell (later killed in action at Passchendaele) and Frank Horne who embarked with this group, along with two unidentified officers.
