Description
Exterior view of the airmen's barracks at No. 2 Air Observers' School, Edmonton. These barracks were used by RAAF air crew training under the Empire Air Training Scheme. A copy of this image sent home to his family by 400393 Sergeant (later Flying Officer) Eliot Barnfather had the following caption: "The two long buildings is where we sleep - the small one in the middle is the bathroom - very palatial - & a drying room with 2 free phones. It was apparently taken during the morning as the windows are open. They are usually opened for a while in the morning to clear the air - you can see there are double windows. The doors also are double - see how the outside one forms a sort of porch."
