FORTIFICATION POINT, NEW GUINEA. 1944-04-06. A JAPANESE 75MM REGIMENTAL GUN TYPE MEIJI 41 BEING FIRED WITH A LANYARD BY MEMBERS OF THE 2/14TH FIELD REGIMENT AT THE FRONTAL ARMOUR OF A DISABLED MATILDA TANK DURING TESTS ARRANGED BY THE OPERATIONAL RESEARCH SECTION, ARMY ORDNANCE CORPS AT HEADQUARTERS 5TH DIVISION. THE WEAPON WAS SERVICED BY MEMBERS OF THE 2/83RD LIGHT AID DETACHMENT. IDENTIFIED PERSONNEL ARE:- SX11511 SERGEANT A.B. WHITTING (1); SX10693 GUNNER C.H. HALL (2); SX10807 GUNNER S.
