Reginald Evans recalls the rescue of PT-109, 2 August 1943
Description
A kinescope recording on 16mm film of an item from the NBC televsion's Jack Paar Program on the PT-109 commanded by Lieutenant John F Kennedy the then current President of the United States of America. Arthur Reginald Evans DSC, who was a Coasterwatcher with the RANVR, recalls the night of 2 August 1943 when the PT-109 was rammed by a Japanese Destroyer. Later he met Lieutenant John F Kennedy and sent a message to arrange the rescue of Kennedy's crew. The rest of the PT-109 crew is introduced to the audience along with one of the New Guinea natives who helped in the rescue of the crew.
