Trials by HQ 7 Australian Division of first Japanese tankette captured complete
Description
Captured on 1 July 1945, by 'A' Company, 2/9 Australian Infantry Battalion, AIF, at Klandasan, this [Type 94] tankette was the first of its kind to be found intact in South West Pacific area by Australian troops. Crew consisted of two - driver and gunner. Armament: one 17.7mm machine gun, weight approximately 3 tons. NX114685 Trooper Brian Edwin Bourke and NX123601 Lieutenant Vincent Douglas Ferns, both from 1 Australian Armoured Regiment, 'B' Squadron, who tested the tankette. This tankette is an exhibit at the Australian War Memorial.
