Kai bombers
Description
2/5th Battalion of the 17th Infantry Brigade, undertook the job of pushing the Japanese out of the Torricelli Ranges. Supporting the ground forces were three squadrons of RAAF Beauforts. 'Kai Bombers' were used to keep the troops supplied from the air. Captain Cameron leading C Company along jungle track to new positions. 69028 (QX21235) Captain Brian Hodge (?) on radio directing bombers on to targets - interior shot. 536465 (SX1434) Lieutenant Colonel Alfred William Buttrose DSO and Adjutant walk along jungle track to Battalion HQ.
