Description
Members of the 2/14th Australian Infantry Battalion leading the march to the sports carnival at Preston Park, in aid of the Memorial Fund to commemorate Private Bruce Kingsbury VC who was born in Preston. The fund was set up to build a memorial fountain in front of the Preston Town Hall. Identified are:- VX14453 Warrant Officer Class II George Henry Butt (1) leading the march; VX18083 Private Alan Stanley Pullyn MM (2) (tall man, front row centre); VX13739 Corporal Stanley Weeks MM (3), (front row, right, closest to camera); Corporal Yates (9); Sergeant G William (11). The unit has just passed Ralph's Junction Hotel featuring signs for Carlton Ale and Foster's Lager.
