Flying Officer Harry Shipley
Description
Depicts a portrait of 420284 Flying Officer Harry Shipley, an experienced pilot of No 3 Sqdn RAAF. The squadron was operating south of Rome on one occasion when Shiply called up on the Radio Telephone that his aircraft was hit and that he was bailing out. Months past before he was heard of. One on his legs was badly smashed by hitting the tail plane as he bailed out and was later amputated in a German P.O.W camp hospital.
