Torpedo workshop, HMAS Hobart
Description
Situated abaft the second funnel are the torpedo tubes and workshop. In the drawing one 'fish' has been brought in for overhaul, the other is to be greased and returned to the tubes. Compressed air is being transferred from one 'fish' to the other. Two sets of hauling gear serve both the port and starboard tubes. In the for'ard end is the work bench and around the walls are tins of kerosene, filters and tools. Each of the eight torpedoes carried by these cruisers is overhauled regularly to ensure accurate running while at sea. At night this compartment is used as sleeping accommodation, Alexandria, Egypt.
