[Oil tanks ablaze, 16 June 1942]
Description
The Japanese patterned-bombed the township of Darwin. On this occasion the oil tanks were hit, burning furiously for 3 days. In the foreground are the workshops and yards attached to the Boom Defence installations on the end of the Headland. Sheltering the oil tanks is the beginning of the destroyed Darwin Jetty. The tanks are sunk in the Headland.
