His Majesty's ships Indomitable, Deer Sound, Tumult and Unicorn, Garden Island
Description
HM ships Indomitable, Deer Sound, Tumult and Unicorn at Garden Island, Sydney, with the aircraft carrier HMS Indomitable in dry dock to the right; HMS Deer Sound at anchor in the distance; the destroyer HMS Tumult to the right of the two-storied buildings of Garden Island, and the aircraft carrier HMS Unicorn behind the same buildings. The painting was executed from the verandah of the Headquarters of Admiral Moore, FOICS, Sydney. The work conveys the sheer size of the carrier 'Indomitable' in contrast with land structures and without exaggeration.
