The harbour at Iraklion
Description
Described in the Official War History as Heraklion, it was one of the points at which the German air-borne attacks were made on Crete. At Heraklion the 2/4th Australian Infantry Battalion, while attached to the 14th (British) Infantry Brigade, was heavily engaged in defending the airfield against German paratroopers on 20th May 1941.
