View in Catalina flying boat base, Port Moresby
Description
Watercolour sketch of activities at the Catalina flying boat base in Port Moresby. Two men stand on the jetty undertaking some repairs, while other aircraft are already up in the sky. Dargie noted, "Both Australian and U.S. Catalina squadrons are based on Port Moresby. At this station the aircraft are serviced and repaired. An RAAF Marine Section is also attached to the base. In the frame in the foreground can be seen the yellow buoys to which the Catalinas are moored in the water".
