In the Owen Stanley Jungle: two camouflaged soldiers about to go out on patrol
Description
A double portrait of Private Claude Farrrell (standing) and Private Phillip Buckley. They look as though they are about to go on patrol in the jungle of the Owen Stanley Ranges in New Guinea. Dargie noted, "Green faces, green uniforms, tangled jungle background". This work was published in the 1943 Australian War Memorial publication, Khaki and Green as the frontisiece with the title 'Australian Jungle Fighters'.
