Description
Washing down the Governor-General's 4-engine "Endeavour" in the Royal Hangar at the Royal Australian Air Force airfield, Canberra. In the background is the old "Southern Cross" that had been spruced up for a film. The late Sir Charles Kingsford-Smith was first to fly this 3-engine plane over the Pacific Ocean from California to Australia. This airfield was used by the Dutch and was the flying base for the Netherlands East Indies Air Force in the Southern area. In addition to the general Air Force activities, the Station maintained an Army and Air Force co-operation school.
