Australian landing point, Dutch Timor
Description
The beach at Oesapa Besar, near Koepang, Dutch Timor, where troops of "Sparrow Force", landed. "Sparrow Force", which was the Australian component of the Dutch-Australian Force to occupy the Island of Timor, consisted of 2/40th Australian Infantry Battalion, 2/2nd Australian Independent Company, 2/1st Heavy Battery, Royal Australian Artillery, 2/1st Fortress Company, Royal Australian Engineers, 2/1st Fortress Signals and ancillary troops.
