Action at Te Ranga
Description
British troops attacking a Maori position at Te Ranga near Gate Pah, with Mount Edgcumbe on the horizon behind at left. Two 12-pound Armstrong guns are firing at the Maori position, and more troops, held in reserve, are gathered in the foreground. Hailed as a great British victory, the Battle of Te Ranga, on 21 June 1864, was the last serious engagement of the Tauranga campaign.
