LAW M72 Rocket Launcher : Australian Army
Description
M72 66mm Rocket Launcher is a light anti armour weapon, consists of a PVC or a rubber encased trigger mechanism and pop up rear and front sights which are mounted on the tube. The aluminium inner tube contained the missile. Each Rocket Launcher has been modified to fire the 35mm sub calibre rocket and bear stencilled instructions to this effect.
History / Summary
This type of weapon was used in Vietnam by Australian and United States Forces, mainly for bunker bursting. The M72 was designed to be a one man portable, throw away rocket launcher to replace the M20 'Super Bazooka'.
