Miner, Mount Isa (Jack Thorburn)
Description
Mr Jack Thorburn, New Zealand born, has been a miner all his life. Underground was the only world he knew and liked best. As Underground Superintendent, Mount Isa Mines he spent most of his time below the surface. Generous but firm, he had the biggest ears the artist had seen on a man and the flesh of his cheeks were gouged with deep lines. Mrs Thornburn referred to those lines as "Jack's dimples".
