History / Summary

This shirt was worn by Major R Clark on a later occasion in Vietnam as a member of AATTV. Major Clark was a member of the Training Team who stayed behind after the general withdrawal of Australian troops. Earlier in the war when Clark was a captain, he and Warrant Officer I Chinn of Team 5 were the first two Australians to come under enemy fire in the Vietnam war as advisers with the 32 Ranger Battalion Army Republic Vietnam (ARVN) in April 1964. For this action Chinn was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal and Clark the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry.
