Type 98 Aircraft Machine Gun
Description
Type 98 Aircraft Machine Gun. Tubular receiver with a wood rear cover and pistol grip. The breech is stamped with the Nagoya arsenal mark 18.7 (1943 July) and the serial number. It has a straight bar cocking arm on the right side. The air cooled barrel has a slotted steel cover jacket. The sights are missing from the mounts on the barrel jacket.
History / Summary
This type of gun is a copy of the German MG15 and was usually fitted to the free gun positions on Japanese Army aircraft.
