Japanese flag carried inside Midget Submarine
Description
Remnants of a Japanese battle ensign. The pieces of original flag have been stitched onto a wool backing which has been dyed to complete the design.
History / Summary
This flag was recovered from one of the Japanese midget submarines which attacked shipping in Sydney Harbour in May 1942.
