Informal portrait of Sergeant Adams sitting up, writing, in a hospital bed, in Ward S III B, No. 15 British General Hospital. The mosquito net positioned above his bed has been neatly twisted around its support. The windows on the ward are open, but the shutters closed.
This image is from one of three albums (P10636, P10637 and P10638) relating to the service of Staff Nurse (SN) Kathleen Blanche Gawler, Queen Alexandra's Imperial Military Nursing Service Reserve (QAIMNSR). This particular album covers the period when she was based at No.15 British General Hospital, Alexandria, in 1915-1916.
