Portrait of 61 Private (Pte) Harold Williamson, 22nd Battalion. Pte Williamson enlisted in Ararat, Victoria, on 21 January 1915, and embarked for overseas service on 8 May 1915. Whilst serving with the 22nd Battalion on the Gallipoli Peninsula, Pte Williamson was promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal (L Cpl). L Cpl Williamson embarked with the rest of the 22nd Battalion to France in March 1916 and was promoted to the rank of Sergeant (Sgt) on 30 July 1916.
