BARRACA AREA, LIBYA, 1941-04-04. THE VALLEY IN WHICH THE 26TH AUSTRALIAN INFANTRY BRIGADE HEADQUARTERS IS SITUATED. AN INTELLIGENCE TRUCK CAN BE SEEN IN THE RIGHT FOREGROUND. THE ROAD TO BARCE IS SEEN BEHIND A ROW OF TREES IN THE RIGHT MIDDLE DISTANCE. IN THE LEFT BACKGROUND IS THE PLAIN ON WHICH BARCE IS SITUATED. THE 2/48TH AUSTRALIAN INFANTRY BATTALION AND NO.1 COMPANY, 2/23RD AUSTRALIAN INFANTRY BATTALION WERE HOLDING HIGH GROUND COVERED WITH TREES IN THE LEFT MIDDLE DISTANCE. VX43893 LIEUTENANT G.H. BLAND, 26TH AUSTRALIAN ANTI-TANK COMPANY WAS HOLDING THE PASS WITH TWO ITALIAN 47 MM. ANTI-TANK GUNS, CAPTURED AT TOBRUK AND MOUNTED ON THE BACKS OF TWO TRUCKS, WHILE THE NORTHUMBERLAND FUSILIERS WERE HOLDING THE HIGH GROUND TO THE RIGHT.
