British Pattern 1845 Cutlass & Scabbard : Australian State Colonial Navy
Description
Pattern 1845 cutlass with a curved flat blade and spear point. The hilt is a basket guard with a slot for a wrist strap near the pommel and a cast iron ribbed grip. The blade is stamped with a broad arrow WD over an Enfield proof mark with a double arrow sale mark on the right and C over '88 on the left. A leather washer is attached to the blade where it meets the guard. The Cutlass has a black leather scabbard measuring 27.75 inches mounted with a steel chape and tear drop frog stud locket.
