British Constabulary and Prison Warder's sidearm and scabbard
Description
British Constabulary and Prison Warder's sidearm and scabbard. The brass hilt is a D shape stirrup type guard with a ribbed fishskin grip. There is a spring catch on the inner side of the cross guard that locks the sidearm into the scabbard. The curved blade has a wide single fuller on each side running the full length to the double edged point. The black leather scabbard has a brass chape and frog stud locket.
History / Summary
It is not known whether this type of sidearm was issued to the constabulary in any of the Australian colonies.
