Description

Special Operations Research and Development (SORD) manufactured 'classic system' nylon chest webbing consisting of a 'H' harness connecting a front and a rear panel. On each side are a single large 'fastex' style clip and an adjustable nylon strap. Both panels have an elasticised nylon pocket for the internal placement of armoured plates. The panels are also complete with Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment (MOLLE) ladders for the attachment of pouches, pockets and equipment. The panels, fastex clips and adjustable nylon straps are all in an overall olive green colour known as SORD Base Colour (SBC). There is no camelbak hydration system attached to the rear plate. On the top of the rear plate is a single built in grab handle.

The lower ladders of the front plate have three centrally mounted Australian Defence Force (ADF) issued LAND 125 triple magazine pouches and a pair of LAND 125 F1 hand grenade pouches vertically aligned. On each side of these is a single medium sized pouches each fitted with a top zip opening. Attached to the MOLLE ladders on the left pouch is a single rolled up 'Multicam' camouflaged dump pouch for expended magazines.

On higher ladders above the sternum are mounted an ADF First Aid Dressing (FAD) and a small tan coloured open topped adjustable nylon pouch made by 'CONDOR', in this is a single black plastic and nylon Combat Application Tourniquet (CAT). Immediate to the left of this pouch and CAT is a empty LAND 125 Personal Role Radio (PRR) holder. On the inside of the panels are manufacturers tags.

History / Summary

This combat chest webbing relates to the service of Private A D Fox-Lane, of the 6th Battalion Royal Australian Regiment (6RAR). It was worn at the Battle of Derapet, Afghanistan on 24 August 2010. As a result of this engagement, one of his colleagues, Corporal Daniel Keighran was awarded the Victoria Cross for Australia.

This is a non-Australian Defence Force (ADF) issued chest webbing system. This chest webbing is very adaptable, easy to wear inside vehicles, easy to personalise and a popular option worn by ADF personnel in Peacekeeping and combat deployments since 2005. It is developed and manufactured by Special Operations Research and Development (SORD), an Australian based company.
