Territorial Force Efficiency Medal : Private C E Allen, 23 London Regiment
Territorial Force Efficiency Medal. The recipient's number, rank, name and unit are impressed on the edge. The medal is an oval shape with a swivelling top ring suspender. Obverse: The bust of King Edward VII in uniform facing left, with the legend, 'EDWARDVS VII REX IMPERATOR' around the top circumference. Reverse: The words 'TERRITORIAL FORCE EFFICIENCY MEDAL'. A piece of 32 mm plain dark green ribbon with a central yellow stripe is threaded through the ring suspender.
Awarded to Private C E Allen of the 23rd London Regiment who completed a minimum of 12 years service in the Territorial Force. This medal is part of a collection assembled by the late Hon. Sir Thomas Hughes, Member of the Legislative Council of New South Wales. It was presented to the Memorial in memory of his son, Captain Roger Forrest Hughes, Australian Army Medical Corps, who died of wounds in France on 11 December 1916, and of his grandson, Flying Officer Peter Roger Forrest Hughes, 12 Squadron, Royal Australian Air Force, who was killed on active service while flying in the Northern Territory on 3 October 1942.
