Studio portrait of Trooper (Tpr) Leslie William Tynan, in the uniform of a pre-war light horse regiment. A miner from Mt Morgan, Queensland, Leslie Tynan later enlisted with the 4th Pioneer Battalion, in June 1916, as 3205 Private (Pte) Leslie William Tynan. Pte Tynan transferred to the 12th Field Artillery Brigade in January 1918. He was serving with the 112th Howitzer Battery near Dranoutre, Belgium, when he was killed in action on 21 March 1918.
