Description

Letters and postcards relating to First World War service of 889 Lance Corporal Keith Rourke, 1916. This file contains letters from Keith Rourke to his mother, and other related correspondence to Mrs Rourke. These letters cover time spent in France, describing the weather and conditions, and the expectation that the war would end by the following spring. Some letters are written from camp in Salisbury, and talk about the erratic nature of mail. Later letters are from France and Belgium, describing conditions, and mention L/Cpl Rourke's promotion to Captain.
