German Seaman's collar : M Meinhold, German Navy (Kaiserliche Marine)
German Navy (Kaiserliche Marine) Junior NCO's and seaman's blue cotton square rig collar with three white stripes around the edge. Incorporated into the collar are white front and rear panels. Stamped in black on the rear panel is 'B. A-W 15. 1. 13 [within a T-shape border]'. Also sewn onto this panel is a rectangular white cotton name tag with a brown border and the name, 'M MEINHOLD' in brown. Handwritten in blue ink on the inside of this panel is, 'PRESENTED BY MRS ORCHARD' (reference to a previous gift to an historical society). Attached to this panel and the collar itself are four tape ties. Two tape loops are sewn to the corners of the front panel.
This collar is thought to be associated with a crewman of the First World War German raider SMS Emden.
