93 page manuscript titled 'A Long Journey to the Target'. Provides a summary of the service of 428310 Flying Officer Stanley Harrison during the Second World War form enlistment to his return to Australia. Chapters 1 to 4 of the manuscript detail Harrison's initial training, training at No. 7 Elementary Flying Training School, training at No. 6 Service Flying Training School. Chapters 5 and 6 detail Harrison's experiences of travelling to Britain via the United States of America. Chapters 7, 8, 9, and 10 provide information on further training undertaken in England in No. 18 Elementary Flight Training School, No. 30 Operational Training Unit, and Heavy Bomber Conversion Unit. Chapters 11 through 14 detail the experiences of the author on active service as part of 460 Squadron RAAF, and 156 Path Finder Force Squadron. The author's experiences of the Dresden raid of 13 February 1945 is described in detail. Chapters 15 and 16 cover the author's experiences of return to Australian and his post-war life.
