Studio portrait of VX24203 Private (Pte) Angus William Burnett, 2/22 Battalion. A labourer from Koroit, Victoria prior to enlistment, Pte Burnett was one of seven brothers to serve during the Second World War. In March 1942 he was declared as missing in action near Rabaul, PNG and was presumed to have been killed on 4 February 1942. Having no known grave, he is commemorated on the Rabaul Memorial, PNG. His brother, VX16483 Pte Edward Joseph Burnett also served with the 2/22 Battalion and also went missing in action near Rabaul. See P10282.001. Other brothers who served were VX6703 Corporal Patrick Alfonsus Burnett, 2/6 Battalion, VX60088 Pte Harold Burnett, 2/29 Battalion, VX115736 Pte Victor Burnett, 2/6 Battalion and 147019 Leading Aircraftsman John James Burnett, RAAF.
